Kim received her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Florida State University in 1987. She earned her NCIDQ certification and was licensed in 1990. A Florida native, she has worked with architecture, interior design, and multi-discipline design firms and procurement companies located in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, and Sarasota. Most of her completed work is located in the southeastern United States.
Her first twenty years of professional experience were spent working in-house at architecture firms. She was fortunate to work at boutique, small, and large firms and to work on projects independently, as a member of a team, and to gain Design/Build experience. She has project experience in Hospitality, Resort, Civic, Entertainment, Retail, and Residential, as well as in graphic design and in bespoke product design. Later in her career Kim chose to expand significantly into procurement services, which allows her to better serve her clients and helps projects run more efficiently with better processes and outcomes.
Kim understands the differences between residential and commercial design, and when the experience with these two specialties must both be drawn upon for a single project. She has expertise in using commercial products that give the aesthetic feel of home while meeting the high performance and code requirements of their commercial usage.
Kim is not known for a signature style or a focus on a particular brand. Her solutions reflect the diversity and individuality of each client and each project's goals and budget. She can supply a wide variety of interior furnishings, lighting, decorative finishes, art, and accessories direct to her clients, and has close working relationships with company leadership at well-known and highly respected suppliers and manufacturers.
Kim has won numerous design awards from ASID, IIDA, AIA, ABC, and other professional organizations, however she feels her greatest accomplishments are happy clients and successful projects. Her very first client is still working with her today, 38 years after their initial project together.
